Snippet Sunday ~ Weekend Writing Warriors 1/11/15

Welcome to my 20th Snippet Sunday ~ Weekend Writing Warriors Post! This week’s snippet takes place immediately after last week’s that you can find here. Elwin just told Sarette what is supposed to happen when something including the throne in Daearen is left unbalanced it causes tornadoes, flash floods, tsunamis on Earth and then Mom says…

“When the Spirit Fey throne was left unbalanced it didn’t create an event here, it created a void or darkness in Daearen and there has been fighting within all the realms ever since that day. Sarette, when I told Roland that he was going to be a father, he wanted to come back, but I wouldn’t let him.”

“Wait! You talk to him? How come I’ve never talked to him?” I was practically screaming, “You guys didn’t think I should know about this? I want to see my dad, now!”

Tears were flowing down my face, and I looked from Elwin to my mom. Elwin, his eyes cast downward was kneading his hands together, and my mom sat there calmly.

“I can’t do this!” I screamed as I pushed out my chair and then ran up the stairs to my room and flung myself across my bed, burying my head in the pillows.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s snippet! Let me know in the comments below! I love reading all the comments and want to give a big ‘thank you’ to everyone that stops by!

Check back in next week for the continuing saga of Meanmna: Book One of the Daearen Realms!
But if you can’t wait until next week…

Meanmna: Book One of the Daearen Realms

Seventeen-year-old Sarette has always thought of her life as average, even a bit boring. She does well in school, has a loving mother and a loyal best friend, Mathew. Of course, she has her problems as well—cold Michigan winters, a long-lost father she knows nothing about, and the lack of a boyfriend. She also has the vague sensation that she is being watched by some unseen entity, but figures that means she’s average and crazy.

Nothing could be further from the truth . . .

Daearen isn’t much different than the human world. Imagine a world where science is replaced with magic.

  1. Her reaction is fair for a teenager, I think—it would be tough enough to understand and accept all this as an adult!

Her mother was probably wise not to let her father come see her—I doubt he would have wanted to go back! 🙂

  2. Wow, surprise after surprise in this story but I like it! Your heroine did come across as quite the teenager…but at least her father’s alive, right? Excellent excerpt.
