MEET MY CHARACTER MONDAY ~ MELINDA

Welcome once again to the Meet My Character Monday Blog Hop! I was working on Mick for this week, but something is happening in my WIP, Eitlean with Melinda right now, so she was on my mind.

1. What is the name of your character? Melinda of the Air fey

2. When and where is the story set?

You first meet Melinda when Elwin and Sarette escape the dark fey coming after them at Phillip and Marge’s house in Meanmna: Book One of the Daearen Realms. This is that first meeting:

“Well, if it isn’t Elwin Colin.”

I looked around for who might have spoken. We were the only ones in the cavern, or so I thought.

“Melinda, I can’t hug you when you are only an inch tall,” said Elwin.

That’s when I noticed the firefly three inches from his face. It moved back about three feet and started to glow even brighter. The radiance extended to the ground, shimmering as it took shape and transformed into one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen.

Melinda was even taller than Elwin and wearing a strapless black-sequined mini-dress. Her skin was golden and looked like it was glowing. Her long hair was the color of rose gold, and her see-through wings had black sparkles around the edges.

She looked me up and down and said to Elwin, “Who’s she? And why are you crashing my party?”

3.What is the personal goal of the character?

Mathew really sums it up best the first time he meets her in Bienn-Theine: Book Two of the Daearen Realms.

Melinda turned to us. “Lilly, you and Mathew have the guest room next the shower. Drop off your stuff there and meet us in the dining room. Mick, Mica, come.” She smiled graciously, but with the air of someone used to being obeyed. Sarette had told me there was something about Melinda that compelled people to do her bidding, and it was apparent in the way we all jumped to follow her orders. Melinda was the youngest unmated sister to the Air fey king, but she had always believed that power corrupts and that she had too much power, too much influence over people, and without even trying. She had no desire to rule, but was perfectly happy living in her woods, taking care of the Air fey who, in their firefly form, guided travelers over the whole of Daearen.

Short and sweet this week. You get a glimpse of Melinda in both published Daearen Realms books, but you will learn so much more when Eitlean releases. I still have my fingers crossed for a holiday release… but yeah, probably not.

Today, I’m also participating in the cover reveal for Her Avenging Angel (Her Angel Romance Series Book 7) by Felicity Heaton!   Check it out!
