Snippet Sunday ~ Weekend Writing Warriors 1/18/2015

Welcome to my 21st Snippet Sunday ~ Weekend Writing Warriors Post! This week’s snippet skips ahead a little from last week’s that you can find here. You miss a bit with Elwin and a cute insightful scene with Mathew. So if you would like to read the in between click here.

This snippet starts when Mathew is about to leave but stops in Sarette’s doorway and says…

“I’ve got a date with Steph tonight but will cancel if you need me.
You know that, right?”
I nodded my head, and he said, “I’m here for whatever you need.”
As I listened to his footsteps fading down the stairs, I felt a stab of pain in the middle of my chest.
If I went to the fey realm, I would have to leave Mathew behind; Mom, too.
I was completely pissed off at her, but I didn’t want to leave her and what about Mama?
It’s always been the four of us.
They are the only family I knew, and I’d have to leave them all and go to some unfamiliar place and be with people I’d never even met.
I rolled over onto the bed, squeezed my Hello Kitty pillow, and stared at the spot where the crystals had been sitting.
I didn’t bother to wipe the tears cascading down my face as I fell back to sleep.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s snippet. Let me know in the comments below! Check back in next week for the continuing saga of Meanmna: Book One of the Daearen Realms!
But if you can’t wait until next week…

Meanmna: Book One of the Daearen Realms

Seventeen-year-old Sarette has always thought of her life as average, even a bit boring. She does well in school, has a loving mother and a loyal best friend, Mathew. Of course, she has her problems as well—cold Michigan winters, a long-lost father she knows nothing about, and the lack of a boyfriend. She also has the vague sensation that she is being watched by some unseen entity, but figures that means she’s average and crazy.

Nothing could be further from the truth . . .

Daearen isn’t much different than the human world. Imagine a world where science is replaced with magic.
