Sunday Snippet ~ Weekend Writing Warriors 9/28

wewriwa_square_2

Welcome to my fifth Sunday Snippet ~ Weekend Writing Warriors post! Catch up on last week’s snippet here 9/21/14. This week’s snippet takes place just after Sarette has taken her crystals to her room and after some rambling inner debate said out loud, “Of course I’ll say yes.” Elwin shows up and is vague with his answers to Sarette’s questions or refuses to answer them all together. But, he does make a declaration…

. . .I will prepare you and get you there safely; that was my promise to your family, and it is my solemn oath to you.” Elwin stood and faced me then clenched his fist and put it over his heart while bowing his head.

I couldn’t help but giggle at the pomp and circumstance, “What are you a knight or something?”

He looked up and smiled as I started rambling, “And what’s with the disappearing act?

O00hhh, do I get to learn how to become invisible, or are you going to a different dimension and do I get to learn that too?”

I paused then pleaded, “You have to give me something to go on; I have a wild imagination and by the time I see you again, I’ll have convinced myself that I’m a fairy princess or something equally as ridiculous.”

Still clenching the pillow tightly to my chest, I waved and circled one hand as if to say, “any time now”.

Elwin looked at me intensely for a moment before he took a step closer, bent down, and brought his face a couple inches away from mine.

For a brief second, I thought he was going to kiss me, but he moved until I could feel his breath next to my ear sending a shudder through my body.

Slowly, I felt his breath from my ear, along my neck, and down to my collar bone, where he hesitated and then slowly went back up to my ear and in a soft, breathy, and tortuously seductive voice whispered, “Well, as a matter of fact, yes, I am a knight or something…

I hope you enjoyed this week’s snippet! I’m torn about next week’s. Should I keep going chronologically and introduce you to Sarette’s best friend Mathew? Or  are you ready to learn another bombshell?

Let me know what you think of this week’s snippet and what you want to read next week in the comments below.

Check in next week for more! But if you can’t wait until next week…

meanmnasmallMeanmna: Book One of the Daearen Realms

Seventeen-year-old Sarette has always thought of her life as average, even a bit boring. She does well in school, has a loving mother and a loyal best friend, Mathew. Of course, she has her problems as well—cold Michigan winters, a long-lost father she knows nothing about, and the lack of a boyfriend. She also has the vague sensation that she is being watched by some unseen entity, but figures that means she’s average and crazy.

Nothing could be further from the truth . . .

Daearen isn’t much different than the human world. Imagine a world where science is replaced with magic. Available at Amazon and Smashwords!
